It’s the first day of summer. How do I celebrate the first day of summer? With free advice and help for my subscribers.
I run Ungerleider Works. We’re a comms consultancy that helps clients—some advertising and PR agencies, some in-house marketing departments—tell stories about their products and services.
Here are 5 exercises I use with my clients. Although they’re intended for the advertising/PR/marketing world, they apply equally to work or to personal lives. Work through each exercise for yourself in the way that’s more comfortable for you—as a written answer, through a comic strip (I have clients who do that!), voice memos, you name it. Just make sure you save the responses in a way you can review afterwards.
Do as many or as few as you want. Here we go…
What makes you different from competitors?
How do you think you are perceived by others? Does this line up with how you want to be seen or not?
Do you have any internal processes that you think work especially well? Do you have any internal processes that you think work… not as well?
Imagine that you have unlimited resources and buy-in to work on a project for your organization. What would that project be, how would you execute it, and what would the goal be?
Why do your customers buy your product or service instead of someone else’s?
Work through the exercise. Adapt it to your life instead of your business if it makes sense; you know what to do. I bet you’ll find something interesting—and give a shout if this helped you as well.
