Hey there, internet friends.
It’s 101 degrees Farenheit or so in Chicago right now. We had a tornado warning last night. The sky went from sunny to gray to green with torrential rains to sunny in the span of 30 minutes or so.
Chicago may be its own thing culturally, but we’re very much in the midwest geographically.
So hello tornado weather. And hello totally normal 5pm sky.
Anyway… anyway… I had big ambitions for publishing a long essay today, but it’s been one of those weeks and there are too many things going on at once. Some of those things make me sweet, sweet money, so I must focus on them.
Nonetheless, someone once told me the most important thing about publishing a newsletter was being consistent in how often you publish it. So let’s follow that advice with… a bunch of interesting things!
Speaking of Chicago (and Chicago house), this is a great documentary on house music in the 1980s UK.
Bush II-era culture war nostalgia.
Cave famous for its paintings was occupied by humans for 50,000 years.
How to install a payphone in your house.
Hidden messages in Queen Elizabeth’s formal dress.
“31 things I learned from growing up in dysfunction and deprivation and climbing out of it.”

And, last but not least, Disney as religion.

…And that’s all for this one.
See you soon, you amazing people.
