In This Issue: Dude, it’s almost the Friday before Christmas. Is anyone even reading this?
Welcome to Context Collapse, the world’s best comms newsletter. I’m Neal Ungerleider. I run Ungerleider Works and used to work as a reporter for Fast Company, write op-eds for the LA Times, and work as a senior copywriter for R/GA. This newsletter helps readers navigate the weird new world of media and gleefully ignores all the conventional wisdom about journalism, public relations, marketing, and advertising.

I moved this newsletter over to Substack almost four years ago. That’s a long stretch of time!
Our 2023 went well. We started this year with 446 subscribers and hit a high of 549 in early October. I purged more than 10% of our subscribers then who had inactive email addresses or hadn’t opened emails in months; we’re now back up to 501 subscribers. Pretty good year. I realize you, the reader, have many choices for news sources and newsletters to read. I’m glad you choose us.
But it’s late December and it’s time to wrap up the year, so I thought it would be a good time to go over this year’s most popular posts. Our older content is paywalled, but subscriptions are cheap!
Enjoy in good health.
Happy holidays and here’s to a great new year. See you in 2024.
